Sweet Simplicity

I love weddings. I don’t think I could ever get enough of seeing 2 people uniting for the simple reason of love.

Mr M and I attended our first country wedding at the Blue Mountains last weekend and we had such a ball! It was a mini getaway for us and a bunch of awesome friends and I absolutely enjoyed every single minute of it. Witnessing a love covenant that was sealed in the name of God was beyond precious. I couldn’t have felt more honoured to be a part of the wonderful celebration.

Of course, a great occasion also called for a great dress and I was super excited to take this beauty out for her first ride! I fell in love with this purple dress by Poem the moment I put it on in Bangkok. The structure and length were perfect and I was totally convinced that it was made for me. I especially love the deep V at the back of the dress as it added a touch of sexiness to an otherwise conservative dress. The large bow also made me feel very feminine and somewhat princess-y. One of the things that I liked about this dress was that minimal jewellery was needed to complete the look. In my opinion, there was no need for any other distractions except for a pearl necklace. I also opted for some nude pumps and a cream clutch to keep the look and colour palette as clean as possible.

wllwI think this was by far one of the best ‘wedding guest’ looks that I’ve ever pulled off. In fact I was so amazed that the dress was in place all night without the need for any adjustments. Thai brand Poem has definitely won my heart.

What’s the best outfit you’ve ever worn to a wedding/formal event and where did you purchase it?

I look forward to reading your fond memories!

Black and White Reflections

BH2I’m still trying to get my head back into this space.

My 2.5-week break had completely distracted me from this part of my life. There were more pressing issues to attend to, such as spending quality time with loved ones and just savouring moments that I may not get when I’m NOT on holiday.

Now I haven’t lost my love for fashion in case you’re wondering. In fact, I don’t think that’s ever going to be possible. However my lack of effort and excitement about posting recently is probably a signal that a reflection on wllwproject, even if it’s a small one is due soon.

I ask this out of curiosity and a desire to be enlightened:

What motivates you to blog?

Catching A Breather From Fashion

Truth is, I had been intentionally neglecting this blog for the past week. Most of my time was spent with the family and I haven’t been this carefree in a long while. I woke up every morning loving the fact that I had time to cut up colourful fruits and turned them into glasses of weird coloured tonics.

I love whipping up homemade breakfast for the family.

I love listening to the crazy daily downpour while enjoying a steaming cup of Boh Cameronian Gold Blend  with a hint of milk (really, who needs Twinings?).

Most of all, I LOVE the feeling of extra time in hands. Overworking has been over-glorified.

I’m going to leave you with a few photos of a black and white outfit that I put together before I left Sydney. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the look, nothing overly fancy. One thing I will mention though is the white shirt. I like its asymmetrical cut as it adds such an interesting dimension to the standard shirt. The cropped front also gives a ‘sexy’ touch to a normally conservative piece. I would try and pair it with something slightly more high-waisted next time to solve that floppy tummy look. An alternative to that is to eat less (mission: impossible)!

Good night world. Have an awesome weekend!

Bold Floral Print and Chiffon Drape Dress

My Feedly is at the verge of exploding with tonnes and tonnes of unread blog posts. I haven’t been able to actively participate in blogsphere for the past couple of weeks due to an array of reasons. One of them being wedding venue hunting. Sydney has lots of beautiful (not to mention expensive) venues on offer but many of them have limited capacity. Our preliminary guest list is pretty long and we’re hoping to trim some excess fat off! Does anyone know the best way to do so?

Vaucluse 3

These couple of photos were shot at a potential wedding location. I still haven’t quite grasp my floral jacket yet so it’s very much ‘work in progress’ when it comes to pairing ideas. I don’t normally wear loud colours except for special occasions but I’m finding them really refreshing lately. Perhaps I’ve become bolder as I’m getting more and more reassured with my personal style. Whatever it is, I think I’m ready to venture outside my comfort zone. Bring on the colours I say!

I’ll be heading home to Malaysia in a few days time for a few weeks. It’s been a while and I’m looking forward to bonding time with family and friends!

Hope you all are well 🙂

Sunshine and Daisies

I’ve fallen in love with daisy print lately. It does not only make me feel ultra girly, it’s also a great representation of Spring/Summer!

These photos were taken at Cottage Point, one of the smallest and most well-preserved suburbs in Northern Sydney during my birthday/proposal weekend. Mr M had organised a seaplane as our mode of transportation to make the experience extra special. It was such an awesome way to admire Sydney at a different angle. The views were absolutely breathtaking to say the least.

We wandered around Cottage Point aimlessly, soaking in what nature had to offer and I couldn’t be anymore relaxed. My shoulders felt light, and so was my bag for once! I couldn’t stop feeling its buttery soft texture and I love it’s unconventional round shape. Mr M got this Sara Barner ‘Taylor’ bag for me from of a kind after I’ve openly ‘hinted’ my desire to own one of them (along with many other things)! It’s the perfect bag to carry on days when all I need are my phone, lip balm and some cash.

5 more sleeps till the weekend! Let the countdown begin!

Saying Yes I Will

Donning this especially loud but demure dress from Swedish brand ACNE, Mr M and I celebrated a wonderful milestone in our relationship + my birthday last weekend. It was a beautiful surprise not to be forgotten, forever.

Earth Tones

What is your current favourite colour palette to wear?

I was inspired to dress in earth tones last Saturday because of the warm sunny weather. I think a lot of people tend to shun away from this colour palette because it’s typically viewed as boring and old-fashioned. I personally think that it’s a matter of the mindset. There’s so much potential for these unsung colours to shine. IMHO, earthy colours could look extremely fresh and updated when done right, not to mention extra calming on the eyes too!

I’ve reached for this maxi skirt for a number of occasions this year (see 12 and 3) and I’m yet to be bored with it. I love the way it looks when sunlight shines through the material and creates a really feminine silhouette. The way that the skirt sways with each movement makes me feel somewhat special and beautiful. These are definitely healthy feelings that I want to constantly be reminded of!

Have a lovely day, Talk soon.

As Pink As I Can Be

Happy Friday! It’s the labour day long weekend for us in New South Wales so lots are happening! I’m excited.

Today I’m going to bring you to Bergen, Norway where Mr M and I were visiting just a few months ago. Frankly speaking Bergen wasn’t sitting on top of our priority list due to limited time but we decided to make our way there anyway for a special reason. A great childhood friend of mine currently resides in Bergen with her happy little family and I simply could not pass up the opportunity to say hello, seeing that I had already traveled that many miles. I never regretted a single bit. It was so nice to feel the other person’s presence again, something that Skype or text messages or what have you could never ever compensate for. My dear friend fed us with local delicacies like fish soup and brown cheese known as brunost and I am still PINING for it!

Bergen is a really picturesque city and it’s also known as the ‘City of Rain’ or ‘Seattle of Europe’ (just for the Americans ;)). We were more than convinced when ample rainfall greeted us with opened arms upon arrival. We booked ourselves a nice little cottage via Airbnb which I felt was a great decision seeing how expensive hotels were. Oh have I mentioned that everything in Norway was outrageously expensive? Sydney is expensive but Norway is double or triple of that. Go figure.

These photos were taken outside our cottage and that little girl in the background is our host’s daughter. Almost everyone in that part of the world looks like goldilocks with luscious blonde hair and ultra good looks!

I didn’t have an ounce of makeup on my face because I gave up looking good by then. I don’t know about you but for me, it was really hard to care about cosmetics when I slept so little. I was running out of clean clothes too so I threw on whatever I had left. I think I’ve mentioned this before but the trick I found most useful when packing my suitcase was to pack things that complemented each other no matter what kind of pairings were done. There’s less of a chance to get caught out by doing that. Shirts are a must especially when traveling into a colder climate. They are extremely versatile and could be dressed up or down.

This pink Kikki K leather travel wallet (see mint/baby blue version) was one of my best purchases last year. It kept  me extremely organised and was big enough to fit currencies, cards and documents. Knowing where things are is essential for stress-free travel! I find it quite funny that I’m flashing you all my pink items the last few weeks when I openly said that I’m not that big on this colour. I’m still holding on to that belief until I start to prove myself wrong!

What are some useful tricks that you’ve acquired when traveling?

Have a wonderful weekend people! Keep smiling 🙂

Spring Style Reflections

A refreshing visual experience is what Mr M and I hope to give you every time a post is being uploaded on wllwproject. Although we didn’t necessarily have a lot of free time in hands, we still enjoyed shooting at a different location each week. Without a doubt this aim of ours was tremendous in helping us explore beautiful and ever changing surroundings that we so often took for granted. With that said, when Mr M showed me a glimpse of Field on his phone last week, I was excited!

Field which is part of Art and About Sydney is an amazing installation of mirrors that utilise reflections to emphasise on the fluid nature of the trees, sky and grass. It is also a dreamland for all narcissists! Tonnes of people were there when we arrived and it took us awhile to experiment with angles, shadows and reflections. I have to say that it was difficult to dodge people but Mr M did such an awesome job in minimising photobombs! His creativity has never ceased to amaze me.

I almost gave this baby pink full skirt away after neglecting it for many many years but fortunately that hasn’t happened. For some reason, I was extra receptive to this uncommon hue in my wardrobe last Saturday. I could only attribute this sudden pink urge to the fact that it’s one of the colours to wear now. Being a non-girly girl, I toned down the sugary sweetness with some black and white stripes and leather gladiator sandals. This skirt was really beautifully tailored and I totally regretted not wearing it before. On the flip side I guess it’s still not too late since fashion tends to recycle to a certain extent. To bring this look from day to night, I thew on some black pumps which instantly polished up the look.

Overseas travel has very much been glorified since the invention of social media. As much as I like to travel the world to exotic locations on a regular basis, let’s face it. it’s not financially viable for me to do so. The next best thing of course is to make the best of where I am. I believe that every city is filled with gems that yearned to be discovered and if we look hard enough, we would be pleasantly surprised.

What are some of the cool things about your city that you’ve recently stumbled upon?

I’m already counting down to a long weekend.

Never Too Cool for School

The weather’s warming up pretty quickly so I thought I should post these photos that were taken at least a couple of months ago before they’re effectively obsolete!

s2

If you’ve followed me for awhile now, you would have probably realised that I love my opaque tights. However, there’s just something about the loose and slightly A-line silhouette that made me opt for knee highs instead. The end result? A youthful school girl look although my school girl years are way behind me now (regrettably).

s1

TGIF. My week has been uber hectic but I’m expecting things to slow down towards the end of next week. How has your week been thus far?

On a completely unrelated note, I could sense that a new chapter of my life is about to unfold… It’s scary but exciting. I certainly hope you would come on this ride with me.

Talk soon.
